Default Thinking about buying a es300

I have recently been looking through autotrader and craigslist for a es300. I've been trying to find one for around $5000.

I'm having a hard time finding them for a decent price and miles.

I'm wondering what the major difference is between the older models, mid 90's compared to a 2000 model. Are the fenders and lights all interchangeable?

Anyways, I found one I really like that is in immaculate condition but the price is outrageous.

I'm more than likely not going to go with that one because of the price but I have also been eyeballing this particular one as well.

Some of the other ones i have also been considering.

I will be going to look at some of these this upcoming week. I'm in the Houston area, so if anybody knows of anyone selling an es300, please PM me.

you could probably snag that black one for $3000-3500 cash easily and with only 112 on the odometer, it should last may years provided its been taken care of and will be when you get it. take the leftover $1500-2000 cash and do the required maintenance and have a really nice ride.

the first tan one was real nice too but the price is steep at $10k, even though it only has 65k, i would still recommend the same maintenance due to age.

what is the required maintenance?

I am really considering the black one because of the price. I am going to text him tomorrow about the price and the condition of the car.

Hopefully he is right about the front shocks needing to be replaced and it's not something else.

Timing Belt Service (Belt, Water Pump, Pulley, Seals etc.), Plugs, suspension parts as need, tranny flush and oil change. Those are the ones I can think of

Black one looks best for price and everything. Front shocks for $250 bucks isn't a bad deal so i would get those done. Sidenote, it says the rear seats were reupholstered so make sure it i leather, also, it may mean the previous owner owned a dog and carted it around back there, just a heads up

Goto ww.kbb.com and plug in the info for the cars you are interested and it will give you dollar figures for the vehicle based on trade in value, private sale or suggested retail sale. The first ES300 with the low mileage, came back at just under $11,000 dollars, if its in excellent condition. I guess its high because of the low mileage. Like other person stated, you would still have to service the car as if it had high mileage for that year because of the length of time since it was made. You could use that as a basis to get them to lower the price down. A typical ES300 has its water pump, timing belt and seals done at 90,000 miles. So if its a 2000, and the average driving miles a year is around, lets say 10,000 miles, times that by 11 years, it should of been done 2 years ago. Also, to consider if its a single owner, any accidents and all the service has been to done per Lexus standard, then this might be an excellent buy. Good Luck bro.

Although a bit high in price the first one has super low km. It was said here a while ago that the ES's with 1 owner and low km are rare and the price reflects that so to get it for the price of an average ES is going to be difficult especially if it was well kept. Goodluck on your future purchase they are Tony the tiger GREEAAAT!
