i'm pretty sure most all car audio install bays have glass mounted antenna kits. i remember even seeing one in radioshack, but hey...i don't buy anything from them except fuses.

they're not that expensive. i was thinking of doing the glass mounted antenna setup and shave the power one off.

really...well if you do it let us know how it turns out, that'd be cool.

I'm dying to shave off the antenna, especially cuz mine has the gold trim on it from the "gold package" it looks outta place.

Not sure if you ever got a response to this. I just replaced the mast on my antenna. I removed the antenna assembly (seem to recall only one nut inside the trunk, the top nut on the fender skin, and one connector).. When I took the old one out most of the nylon gear cable was broken off. I disassembled the antenna gear assembly and removed the old cable. Then I turned the radio on and fed the new gear cable in. Be sure you note which way the cable needs to be oriented. Then I turned the radio off and (ran around to the back) and fed the cable in until it was completely down. The antenna stopped automatically.. It has worked fine ever since. I paid $24.95 on Ebay and so far it has been great. The only downside was my car is trimmed in gold and the new mast had a silver cap. However, I don't think most people would know the difference looking at it.

Hope this helps.
