Default Quit Ragging on The ES

I cant believe alot of you and other people i meet who doesnt even own an es. Everyone says these arent sports cars and some say they arent fast at all. I go to the races all the time I even run my es and i can guarantee you that most of the 4 cylinders and even most of the 6 cylinders doont have a chance. and I know because alot of those 4 cylinder putter cars wont race me. I love to hear someone say are you crazy race a lexus then i tell them its a auto or that it only has a 4 cylinder and they belives me lol. all i got to say is this car is my dream car and I would take it over any gt celica or gs eclipse or especailly a pos mustang 6 cylinder cuz gt's ar damn fast. So lets give these es's the credit they deserve I do consider it a sports car CUZ ITS PERFORMANCE is better than alot alot of 6 cylinders out there.

Who is ragging on the ES? Understand the ES 300 was INITIALLY marketed as a luxury sports sedan (made Car & Driver 10 best list) with the manual. Well those days are over. The ES is capable and can beat some cars, but will lose quite a few too.

The 92 ES was my dream car when I had it, I feel you. But don't get too mad at people who just don't understand!

Default i feel ya

Ya I understand but I intitally wanted to go wiht a gsr then i wanted a zx2 then I was able ot drive an automatic es the best part was its a completely loaded luxury sedan for the price of the zx2 or gsr so i started looking and found the most perfect es it was 5 speed to boot. all i know is it turned out to be faster than boht the zx2 and gsr. I know because the zx2 doesnt come close in sevral races ive had wiht a friend and those gsrs are pretty fast but not fast enough

I drove a certain CL members 95' ES recently.. I was quite impressed.

Drove well and honestly, felt more like a Lexus should feel compared to my 90 LS.

One of these days I'll have to scan the Car and Driver article on the ES from '92, they seemed to really like it.

I'll admit the ES is no supercar, but I believe it deserves plenty of respect for what it is.

i like the es a lot, but i know that there is no way you just said that it is a sports car. it being faster than a lot of cars, does not by any means make is a sports car. it is a luxury car, it just has some torque and a reasonable amount of pickup. We do in fact, lose in 0-62mph races quite often when racing other 6 cylinders. I can beat some sports cars, and i love to, but my car is not a sports car. i still try and drive it like one, i'm the kid that did all the neutral drops and left a court full of smoke and posi marks.... but i have realized to drive my car as the luxo cruiser it can be, and wants to be.... (i still drive it fast and stupid sometimes too)

ES300's aren't slow, but they're really not all that fast either. While there are cars it can beat, including other 6-cylinder ones, there are still ones that will walk it... for example an Acura TL-S or my own 5-cylinder Volvo C70. Now I have love for the ES300, but lets not get carried away here.

Whoa, how'd you get you wheels to spin like that. Did you neutral drop or brake-torque the hell out of it? Looks like you had fun

I have to say that the ES is surprisingly quick and can be quite the sleeper. However, it doesn't stand a chance against most of the luxury brand cars produced since 2000. Manufacturers are just juicing up the HP/Torque in all of their cars. My CL, for instance, while not really a sports car either, can spank my ES up, down, left and right (and that was BEFORE I added mods). For long trips, the ES is the champion of comfort and ride quality.
