Default SRS light on after cluster bulb replacement

Hi, new here I've been lurking for a while and decided to join.

So I installed new cluster bulbs and everything looks great but now the airbag light is on. I disconnected the battery but it didn't seem to help. Any ideas??

Thanks in advance

96 ES btw...

It's possible you powered up the car without the entire cluster connected, or the bulb was not connected. Doing this will cause the SRS system to flag a problem (basically sees that the airbag light is not working, code22) and will store the code until the computer is reset. Removing power will not work, it has to be done by a specific procedure.

I'll look for the procedure, I've done this on several Toyota's but never a Lexus so I don't know if it's the same.
edit - see this thread, not sure this procedure applies to your ES, but I think it does. Hopefully someone else can give more info for you. Also take a look here.

always unplug the battery when you pull cluster...or the airbag light will come up
the procedure to clear the code is complicated....

might as well yank the airbag bulb from ur cluster

I got the PDF manual, I'll check the airbag section for the procedure.

Has anyone done it already?? Some folks must have...

I thought about pulling the bulb but I want the airbags to be functional.

edit - thanks lexus2000

I've done it a few times, it's not that hard. But the procedure in the manual (the one I read anyway) shows the timing sequence, which was way too slow. You have to alternate the connection as quickly as possible, which is why some people resorted to using a toggle switch. Also, you don't have to turn the key off and then back on to retry, you can try over and over again until you succeed.
