ES300 Trunk release button
#4
Seriously??!!--I didn't know this either!! All this time I've been racking my brain as to why the Trunk Release [on the door] just stopped working for no reason--figured it was a fuse. But now that Neo has brought it to the forums (before I did) and got an answer, I realize I've got a bunch of stuff jammed in the glove box...
Gonna take a look at it and see what happens.

Not a problem. I had my glove box switch push by accident and did not know. I could not figure why my open trunk switch would not work. I check fuses over and over. I tried to trace the wiring. One day I opened the glove box and saw the switch. Flipped the switch and solved my problem. Of course that was six months later. Glad to help. David

Thanks padavid 12.... just inherited my 97 ES300 from my parents and they told me one of the "quirks" was the trunk could only be opened with the key. Well you helped me fix that within 24 hours of being the "new" owner.

My 99 doesn't work either even if the button in the glove box is in the correct position. I took the trunk/gas button area apart by the steering wheel and used a jumper wire to rule oUT the switch. Still nothing but when I did it to the gas lid it popped open. The truck release actuator isn't making any sounds at all. HELP!! I'm getting tired of having to turn car off to get in the trunk

We're just loading up the car for a trip. Trunk release worked flawlessly until it suddenly didn't. This thread was the first Google search result. BAM! All fixed! Wife and I both now know about the button! Thank you Internet! Thank you padavid12! (This car used to be my father-in-law's. We're still learning as occasional new thing about it.)
