Unhappy 96 ES A/C Expansion Valve problem?

I have tried charging the refrigerant of the system, and it is at a good pressure. Did some research and saw that the next step is probably the expansion valve. Is this a valid argument?

If so can someone tell me how to do this being car specific? If not, what else could be the problem.

thanks.

It's not getting cold as I believe it should. It gets cool. I understand that it is an old car as well.

If it's an expansion valve, it would be cold for 5-10 minutes, and then blow ambient air. Best to try it on a very hot day. If it blow hot air, it could be the expansion valve.
