Default Plans on Lowering. . .could use some advice^_^

Hey CL,

So the first thing (among many) that I want to do for Christine is rims and a lowering. . .but I've googled it and searched around and it seems that when it comes to lowering, it's split between springs and coilovers.

Anyone know a little about this and want to help me out? I'm looking to lower it about 2 inches-ish. Thanks!!!

coilovers all the way. search this forum and you will find plenty of answers. if you use springs, anything more than a 1 inch drop will wear your struts out quickly as there are no aftermarket "performance" shocks for the ES.

if you do go the coilover route, I suggest either the tein SS for the 99-03 solara or BCR coilovers with a 9/7 spring rate (might have to play with it a bit - I had 7/5 and they were still too soft). Coilovers will run you more but in the end, its less hassle and they will last longer provided you do go off roading or anything crazy. I do know the Tein SS are the most comfortable coils out there for the ES but they are very pricey. I've had the BCR and they are great value but you will have to play with the spring rates a bit to get the comfort ride. Good luck on whatever you decide.

Yeah that sounds about right, you will be looking at at least 1k minimum for decent coilovers, I went with BC Racing, their price was more or less in my price range. I purchased mine here through CircuitMS

Depends on your budget, but most will recommend coilovers for the sake of adjustability. I got a good deal on springs and struts together so I just went that route.
Mines ride great, no complaints.

Most guys will say coilovers now and save money later. You can set height to where you want it and damping as well on most kits.

If you want some help getting a setup shoot me a PM
