Your ES300 is exactly like my friend's, and looks very nice with the rims. We just lowered my friend's '98 also, but with the TRD/Bilstein setup. Now, he just need to get some 17" over the stock chromies.

The springs are the TRD/Eibach application for the Camry, which was advertised as 1.2" all around. But I think it's a bit more than that since it's less than 2 fingers gap all around.

Taking a look at the pictures I took again, it is definitely more than a 1.2" drop. Just take a look at the springs' differences.

How is the ride? Is it more stiff and also are you bottoming out over large potholes or bumps. I just ordered a set of toyico struts. I plan on keep the stock springs as I am not too concerned about lowering the car. Let me know
Thanks

The ride is definitely stiffer compared to the OEM suspension, but not that rough since the leather absorbs some of that. The Bilstein struts have built-in bump stops, and we have heard/felt it when the car runs over a nasty pothole or bump. An oversized rim would probably be damaged compared to the strut. The Tokico struts are very comfortable actually, not as stiff compared to the Bilstein. You can still use the OEM springs, but you will still have the large fender gap, and you shouldn't have any problems with bottoming out since you are not using lowering springs.

You will need to either rent or buy a spring compressor to compress them, so the strut mounts can be taken off without flying off from the recoil action from the springs, if they were not compressed. Always use caution when working with springs. Or, you can always take the entire strut/spring assembly and have a shop like PepBoys or Autozone to dissemble them for a charge. If your "spring clips" are the 2-pieced clamps that functions as a compressor, then yes, you can use them.

wait so i need to prep the springs somehow before i use the clips. or can i just take off the wheel and put some weight on the axel so the spring compresses some... like putting it on a cinder block

I'm not sure what your spring clips are. Here is what my compressor looks like when I did any suspension work.

Putting cinder blocks under the axle will NOT compress the springs over time, as the springs keep their recoil fairly well.

i didnt mean compress the springs over time, i mean just compress them to help me get the clips on. i was going to put them on without taking the springs off
