Anyone interested in my MPG?
For whatever it's worth, following is my MPG for 2001 ES300 from October of 2008 (when I bought it for $11,000) until today, August of 2011.
Couple of interesting points to ponder are:
- Based on the 30 miles one-way I drive to work (60 miles total M-F minimum; there's usually only me in the car), where 50% is on the rush-hour highway traffic, the lifetime MPG is 23.14
- Lowest per gallon price I paid (northwest suburb of Chicago) was $1.609 on December 24 of 2008. This was after Obama claimed that $5/gal gas price will never go below $2 during September campaign.
Do you find this info interesting? Anyone else have similar data collection?

Wow, I just did the conversion. If you are truly getting less than 400 Km per tankful then either you keep your foot in it too much, you do a massive amount of idling in major traffic or you have an issue with the fuel system/engine...

I have no such detailed records. I have a 2000 ES300. I recently took a 625 mile round trip which consisted of 490 miles on the highway and the rest of the mileage was around town, drive throughs, stop and go and so forth. I purchased a total of 24.307 gallons of gasoline and drove 625.2 miles for a fuel mileage of 25.72 mpg. I am quite pleased with the mileage especially considering I put my foot in it more than a few times - all the way to the floor.
I used to own a 1989 model year 2.0L Mitsubish Galant LS for 135,000 miles and its life-time MPG was 25.5.

Highway mileage is just fine in these cars... I get about 25 or 26 straight highway as well. I drive 75% around town with a clean filter, newer plugs, new o2 sensors and a moderately heavy foot. I average about 17 mpg on 87 and slightly more on premium..

I didn't realize the "points to ponder #3" until just now:
My 17 year old son (18 now and away at college) was involved in a car accident (other driver at fault) and his car was totalled and compensated for in early April. The rental car company would not release a rental to a minor so I drove it for three weeks and gave my son the ES for 610 miles and 31.157 gallons of gas (as it turns out on 4/28 and 5/10) which works out to about 19.5 MPG when HE drove it. I interragated him for the reason for such a low MPG number because (as you can see in the table) over the past 3 years, the lowest MPG I EVER got was 22.55! He squarmed out of telling me the truth (I think) and I could not prove anything one way or the another and I just filed it away as an interesting incident.
