Default Steering wheel question

Hey all. Finally got moved and back on the forum. YAY... Although, while driving the 1000 mile trek, my windshield wiper controls stopped working right. Its all one speed, and when I turn the wipers off, the wipers themselves stop where they are on the windshield instead of returning to the usual position. There is a short in the wiring, because once in a while when I push on the wiring, it works correctly. My question is, how do I get the air bag cover, and steering wheel off, without blowing my face off with the air bag?? I know I need a torx tool, but can any of you guide me? thanks in advance

I think you just have to disconnect the negative wire on the battery and go to town.

Not really. The torx screws are in a plastic clip/surround, so after you back them out of the threads, they may still need to be pulled out somewhat so the end of the screw clears the steering wheel housing. Or sometimes what works is pressing the airbag to the left or right, and pull on the opposite side.

Either way, you might have to fight with it a little bit.
