Question 2004 Lexus es330 headlights (low beam)

So first off greetings to all that can help I have been swinging by this site every now and again for trouble shooting searching but I can not seem to figure my headlights out. According to almost every source I have found I need h7 lowbeam head lamps, problem I ran into is that it's not the bulb that in there, it says h9 by Philips anyone know anything about this?

Thanks for the help in advance

Are your headlights halogen or HID?

Look on the side of your headlight housing and see if there is a yellow warning label? If there is one then they are HID.

If halogen: H7 lowbeam
If HID:HID-D2R

If you do have HID's then test the other side's working bulb on the other. Because it's a possibility that your HID Ballast went bad. Otherwise HID bulbs are rather inexpensive, unless OEM Phillips.

Default 2004 ES 330 headlight problem...help!!

Hello All - I have an ES 330 and I'm having a very difficult time with my low beams. The passenger side went out so thinking I can change a bulb, I attempted to replace the bulb. While there was no bulb in the receptacle the lights were accidentally turned on and I heard and 'arcing' sound upfront as if the electrical current shot out of the bulb receptacle and shorted on a nearby piece of metal. Problem #1: the passenger low beam bulb works sporadically whether I turn the lights on manually or they go on automatically...sometimes the bulb works and some times it doesn't...I'd like to have it fixed. Problem #2: I changed the driver side low beam bulb...don't ask me why, I'm a glutten for punishment and now that bulb area gives off smoke and odor...something is burning in the replaced bulb area?? The sad part is I took my car to a dealer and they couldn't find anything wrong with it, yet the light still works sporadically and smoke keeps coming out the other side. If anyone has any suggestions or advice please I'm open to all theories or solutions. My direct email if better....robertgeromini@comcast.net. Thank you. Sincerely, Robert

If your Lexus ES330 has Factory Xenon headlights then it uses D2R bulbs. We sell replacement D2R HID bulbs in 4300k, 5000k, 6000k and 8000k. We have also been a supporting vendor on the forums since 2004

If you are looking to upgrade your headlights to HID you will need an H7 HID kit. In terms of color temperature the higher you go up in color the more color but the less actual light. 4300k is the brightest.

thanks for the link..but how does one know what kind of bulb or temperature ( ie. 4300k, 5000k, 6000k and 8000k) is needed for the car that it original came with (OEM).
And also if lets say the car came with 4300K OEM and i want to change just the bulb to 6000k can that be done too? thanks

Cars that come with HIDs from the factory use 4100k-4300k HID bulbs in D2, D1, D3, and D4 style bulbs. We carry OEM HID replacement bulbs in higher color temperatures if you were looking to change your stock HID headlights. What kind of car were you thinking of changing the bulbs in?

Hi,

The 2000 ES300 uses 4300k D2R bulbs. We sell Philips 4300k D2R bulbs to replace your OEM bulbs.

The 2001 RX with halogen headlights uses a 9006 bulb for the low beams. This means that you will need to get a 9006 HID conversion kit to upgrade the low beams. I would suggest going with a 4300k HID kit to get the most OEM functionality.

Volvo S80: European cars a little trickier as they have a low beam failure indicator. In order to install an HID kit on this vehicle with no error codes you would need to get an H7 Xtreme HID kit and resistors. The Xtreme HID kit will come with a relay harness to power the ballasts directly from the battery. The HID kit load resistors will simulate a load so to even out the difference in draw between HIDs and halogens (35W and 55W).

ES300 Fogs: An H3 HID conversion kit will be required.

Make sure to use coupon code "CL" upon checkout to save $25 / HID kit.

Hope this helps,

Steve
