Default New around here...

Hi everybody!

I just registered and wanted to post and say hello. Within the next few weeks I will be the proud owner of a 2003 ES300. It was a long and hard decision process, I looked at the Infiniti I35 and G35, the Acura TL, the Cadillac CTS (yuck), even the Mazda Milennia, the Chrysler 300M, the BMW 3 series and 5 series, the Lexus GS300 the Benz C and E class and even some pre owned LS400s and LS430s before finally deciding that the 03 ES was for me. The price and how it worked with the lease rate was just right. Then it became time for color choice. I wanted silver with black, the little woman wanted the black garnet. In my sig you can see which one of us won lol. I think I'm getting a pretty good deal, $36500 on the $39470 model.

Happy to be here and I look forward to many Lexus discussions !

Congratulations on your new ES and welcome to CL! You made a choice you won't regret. Be sure to post some pics of your new ride when it arrives!

*But, I have to agree with the "little woman", I'd take black over silver too...just personal preference.

Thats the thing, its not black. The Black Garnet is a real deep maroon color that looks black until the sun hits it, then its maroon. In the brochure I thought it was way too purple, but in person I have to admit, its a deep red not purple. My only worry is that it'll be a pain in the *** to keep clean.

I'll post pics as soon as I get them

It was a really tough decision for me. I own a small business, so my excuse for leasing this new car is the tax deduction. I've always been a huge LS fan (my father owns one) but the lease on a preowned 2000 400 or 2001 430 was just too high when compared to the brand new ES. I was actually kind of surprised that the GS3 and the ES3 were so close in lease payment. The GS is a little too sporty for me though, and I hear its getting a redesign next year so I opted for the ES. Now my dilemma is which leasing company to go with. There's leasecompare.com that seems very professional, and I've spoken to them a lot, but they only offer 15k a year, and I need closer to 20, plus their excess mileage is 18 cents. Then there's a company in California thats called The Lease Outlet that has some great deals, fully assumable leases you can walk out on at anytime, 18k a year, a $1700 loyalty credit etc. I have to talk with them both a few times, get this pesky house refinance done with then I'm in ES city!

As for the Black Garnet, I do have to give it to spousey it is a neat color. I have some pictures I got off of ebay I can post but the problem is it really comes out purple in pictures. Its like 4 or 5 shades darker than the Black Cherry on the LS and GS, if you can invision that. When I get mine I'll get out there with my digital camera and see what I can do

oooooops, lol sorry i misread the "garnet" part next to black.

i think i know what color your talking about. It'll be a lot more distinctive than silver for sure.

Yeah I think so too. I'm just a plain ol boring easy kinda guy. Silver is low maintenance lol. I think I'll be happy with the garnet though.
