Default Leaking Power Steering fluid

Hi guyz,

My '01 ES300 is leaking PS fluid. What might be the causes?

If its the PS pump:
- Can I just top it up? Or will the drips fall on the alternator (like SC400) and cause it to go?
- If need to replace, can I use a rebuilt one?
- Is it possible to used a Toyota PS pump and if yes which type (camry, avalon, etc)?

Thanks

Well, I don't know if the camry pump works on the ES but... yes you can just top it off but it's not the right way to handle this. Need to know where you are seeing the dripping at. Could be almost anything in the circuit... pump, hi-pressure hose, low pressure hose, or the steering rack.

Clean the engine compartment (I prefer simple green) that should make it easier to determine where the fluid is coming from.

The alternator is on the opposite site, if the pump is leaking it will just make a mess.

Thanks guyz....I'm gonna clean the area...while the guyz at TyrePower told me it was the PS pump I think they didn't have the best inspection. I might take it to another place to re-inspect.

What maybe the repercussions if not the PS Pump but the High or Low Pressure hoses?

Cheers
