Default How to remove 03 ES300 radio/CD/tape to install iPod adapter?

I did this once on my old car, a 2000 Honda Accord. It was cheaper (only $80) and easier back then to remove the radio, but nevertheless I'm doing it now for this car because I just realized how good the stock bass is and yet my cassette tape iPod adapter sounds like *** and doesn't take advantage of the great audio system here.

Anyways, from what I can tell from other peoples' DIYs, I have to pry out the bottom part of the deck (the one with temperature controls on it) first, and then maybe unscrew some stuff and the CD player part should come out easily? Or is it like my old Honda, where I have to pop out the climate control vents on top of the radio to access some hidden screws?

Once I take out the stereo attachment it's just a matter of attaching the adapter cable to the back of the deck. But I have to take it out first.

Basically, what stuff do I take out/unscrew to take out the radio/CD/tape deck, and what order do I take them out in?

(it costs $160 to install the cord at CarToys on TOP of the $160 that the adapter itself costs, and I'm reasonably capable of doing it myself, so I'm not gonna pay them)

Default Very easy

1. Make sure emergency brake is on and ashtray is closed.
2. Using the emergency shift button (remove plastic cover with small screwdriver located on the top left area next to shifter) and shift to neutral.
3. Gently pull console around shifter up from the rear side edges and unplug the cigarrette lighter. Shift back to park after it's removed.
4. Gently pull A/C control out. Don't worry no screws yet.
5. There are 4 10mm bolts under the radio in clear view. Unbolt the radio and again, gently pull it and unplug all the connectors.
That's it! Just reverse to reinstall. I'm doing that myself soon, but I'm going to build my adapter it's going to cost me about $25 total in parts to easily build.

Let me know how your project goes - maybe do a write up for future references. I'm having some problems with my cassette tape adapter as well. When I use my phone to play music only the passenger speakers will play unless I turn off the radio, eject the cassette adapter, turn on the radio, then insert the cassette adapter. This is rather annoying.

Good luck with your project!
