A/C issues - 2001
So... I did some reading on here pertaining to the 4es, and tried those fixes - no dice. The relay is okay.
I filled up the system this summer, and its drained or the compressor **** the bed.
Anyone have issues with their 3ES' ??
I much rather not get a new compressor since they're $$ and i don't want to keep dumping money into this thing. UGH.
Just spent ~800$ on suspension parts alone.
I have not checked the system for leaks [yet], and two weeks ago the AC light started blinking, and when its turned on [prior to shutting down & blinking] the belt squeals like a pig, at idle & driving [2-3k RPM]
Anyone know whats up with this?
Thanks dudes
MIKE

I have the same car as you. I too was loosing Refrigerant (slowly), so added some UV Dye to the system. Next day I checked for possible sources of leaks using a cheap UV flashlight.
Found the source right away. It was the Pressure switch rubber seal on top of the AC Dryer. Changed the seal and all is well. Unlike you however, I did not have any belt squealing issues.

^ I'm not dumping this thing. Now that i've truly committed to pricey repairs. I will drive it into the ground, or someone will write it off.
It's worth nothing outside of that anyways.
But yeah, new compressor on the way soon, once i swap that, i'll do the whole 'dye' thing and see if the compressor was leaking, or the system itself.

Once the new compressor is installed just evac and service the unit but add dye. Then just use it, if it begins to lose effectiveness then you can get it checked for leaks. If you do the work yourself make sure you drain the old compressor so you know how much oil to add to the system. Too much oil is a very bad thing, too little oil isn't any good either. I would strongly recommend you replace the receiver-drier as well. Aftermarket compressors are not warranted if the drier is not replaced at the same time.
