Default air conditioning and cooling fan

hello folks. my name is nelson. i am the proud owner of a 1996 es300. i love this car. but only one very important problem. i live in florida and the a/c is giving me alot of trouble.. allow me to explain. intermittantly the ac will shut off and blow warm air. i myself am a service advisor. but for honda. lol. i replaced tha ac relay and the ac blew cold for a few minutes and the cooling fan was spinning at full speed so i thought ok the relay was bad. nope!! not it. i walk away from the car. i was about 10 feet away and the cooling fan slowed down. i went back into the car and it was blowing warm air out af the vents again. mind you this whole time the compressor clutch was engaged and the compressor spinning.. when tha a/c works it blows cold and all my pressures are good. i really am trying to stay away from the dealer its a 1996. you know what i mean. one. one thing i did notice is the fan speed. first of all one fan to cool a/c and radiator. why??? lol the fan speed seems to be real slow but the egine temp is fine or so at least i think so.. i also noticed the high pressure and return hose on the back of the cool fan motor.. whats that? any info would be great and highly highly apprciated. if any further info is needed i be more then hppy to give. i just want the ac to blow cold all the time.. thank you very very much

You are a service advisor and none of your technicians can figure this out?? The fan runs on hydraulic pressure supplied by the p/s pump. There are any number of things that could be at fault here. You could have a low charge causing the evaporator to freeze up. You could have a malfunctioning expansion valve. You might have an issue with the fan causing the fan speed to slow down causing insufficient airflow over the condensor. Does this happen while you are moving or only when not moving?

my techs are honda tech and it takes an act of god for them to work on anything besides honda lol. it happens and very speratically . the charge is good. and when it does work it only works a few minutes. is there a selenoid or something on the ps pump that controls fan speed? ive never seen a set up like this. whats the purpose? thanks for the reply.

Bad expansion valve. A/C starts blowing cold and progressively becomes cool and then warm. Typical problem in a 15 year-old ES. Not a diy job since you will have to remove the evaporator.
