Default Passenger side view mirror repair. (hope this is not a repeat.)

I looked through about 6 pages of posts and did not see this, so I hope it is not a repeat. But it seems everyone on here has good advice so I thought I should ask.

Someone clipped my passenger side view mirror and just the mirror part is now disconnected. There is still some wiring attached and the mirror is intact but it will hang by the wiring if I did not put something to hold it in place. Is there a way to just re-attach the mirror part? Or do I need to buy a whole new unit?

I believe you just have to pop it back in. My dad had a similar problem on a different vehicle. I thought I needed to buy some adhesive to reattach it, but I just gently put it back into place and it hasn't fallen out since.

Are there any mounting clips on the back of the mirror?

To be honest, I am not entirely sure. I am not really a car person but it seems like I should be able to replace it without getting a whole new unit. I just was not sure if there was an issue with the wiring. Thank you for your reply.

I have not seen an ES mirror disassembled; however, I had to replace the passenger side mirror on a 93 LS I owned.

That mirror was held in place by plastic clips which are attached to an assembly on the back of the mirror glass. There were clips at the top and bottom and one on each side. As I recall, the mirror was reattached by inserting the top clip and then pushing the rest of the mirror assembly into place.

My wife hit a street repair pilon, by by power mirror. I got one online out of a junk yard in California for around 50 bucks. The connector plug is inside the door, and I was too busy to take the door apart, but when the dealer was doing the timing belt, I asked them to install the mirror, and they did not charge me for labor. (Big local Toyota dealer) We have a paint company locally that will make you spray cans of any car color, so I sprayed it the correct color, added clear coat, and voila.
