What do you wanna see? I took pics of everything at the beginning of the thread. The mouse is that touchpad, and the keyboard is one of those new 'floppy' ones that is really thin. I just leave it b/n my seat and the center console.

Cool, is it one of the spillproof keyboards that you can roll up? Sorry to hear about the harddisk problem. The ideal situation would be to get a cheap used laptop (of sufficient speed to run your multimedia), as better ones have shock dampeners (and the mobile hard drives are designed to be shaken up a little more), they draw less power, and take up much less room.
Can't fault you though, you did a great job rigging up a system already on hand.

Yes, it is one of those roll-up keyboards. It's really hard to type on b/c there's no good surface. I really just need it for quick key strokes. Mostly, I don't need it. The hard drive really does ok. It was just that one time. I might wrap it up in some foam or bubble wrap, or maybe just suspend it inside the computer. I have this thing called "priorty start" on the way that cuts power to the accessories once the battery goes under 11 volts. The computer is set to sleep after 2 mintues, so that helps w/ power. It can last about an hour w/o a shutdown. Mabye I will convert to a laptop one day. It's just that this is upgradable, and I've never messed w/ laptops before. I made that plate out of a black trash can, and I drilled a small hole for the remote sensor. I am working on a system to wake up or boot the computer w/ the remote start.

i'm really bored. and i have a unused laptop sitting in my room.
it's a toshiba. i'm thinking of just wiring that with a tape adapter, so i have 4 gigs of space to store music.
but i can't do this until the car is mine... my mom still sits in the passenger seat, so o place to put it, and wiring it anywhere else will take too much time and funds. and i'm not allowed to hard wire anything. i'll just leave it on my passenger seat when i start driving. and stick it under one of my seats when i'm at school, or it'll be gone. 4 gigs of space, and 633 mhz should be enough.

sounds like a good idea. Mine is a 500 and it plays mp3's just fine. It skips a little on videos. What you really want is an FM Modulator, which allows you input the sound into the factory radio w/o hardwiring or changing anything. That way you don't use one of those clunky tape things.

well i'm actually using a tape adapter on the car right now. it's hooked up to my palm, and i have 128mb of mp2's on it. it works fine to me. the fm modulator is the plug that goes into the lighter socket, and it basically produces it's own radio channel or somethin. right?

you could hard wire it into the fuse box and it goes in line w/ the antenna. It took about 30 min to install. It's way clearer and cleaner then the tape thing.

the tape thing is pretty clear. but i couldn't get it to work. how do you make it play the tape, it kept trying to read the tape on both sides, then it would just spit it out...

well like on mine... it only reads on one side of the tape. you know how there's an a side and a b side on a normal tape. you have to look at the tape to find out if you have it on the right side. if it isn't, it'll do nothing, and you'll have to get the wire inside to go another way. here's a few pics.
if this doesn't fix it... then i guess it's the adapter
