92-96 Radio and Climate light bulbs - LCD backlight
#31
Is there anyone who can help me with this project? Before coming to ClubLexus I tried to fix this myself. I was troubleshooting (I had just one bad bulb) and while poking around (I am not terribly electronically inclined) I shorted another light, and now none work. I can pay anyone who would be willing to help (or just fix this for me) or if anyone happens to have one they are selling. Any help is very much appreciated. Oh, and I know my name is I Love GS4, but she is gone and I have a 1992 Lexus ES300 now.
Please help,
Thanks

Another thread from the dead... boy oh boy j/k
If you go to the 1st post on the 1st page of this thread, it lays out all the necessary info on what you need to change out the bulbs behind the stereo and climate control cluster on your '92-'96 ES. I suggest you read all the posts from the beginning so you have a better understanding of the process
To answer your question, the P/N of the bulbs is 86120-33021, and I believe you can only get this from the Lexus parts counter, not from Toyota.

OK my mistake. I did some snooping around, and found out that the 86120-33021 mentioned from my previous post is actually for a radio receiver assy, and not for the backlighting bulb. So I don't know the P/N of the bulb at all for the '92-'96 ES. Your best bet is to call up your local Lexus parts dept, and just ask for it.

My middle lcd bulb burned out just this past week.
Why in the hell does tis have to involve soldering? Could they have just made it simple, bulbs that just plug right in? God, this drives me CRAZY.

It's been a while
I haven't taken the climate control or radio apart in a while. If I remember right, the three screw-in bulbs light up the buttons in the climate control. Then there are three bulbs that light up the LCD display which are soldered to the board inside the white housing behind the LCD.
In my pictures I posted, the numbers for the radio were not illuminated because I was listening to a CD. When a CD is playing the 1-6 buttons, scan, etc are dark and the red CD function buttons are lit. The same goes for the green lights above the buttons when you are playing a cassette tape.
I do have some bulbs out on the radio buttons (number 5 and 6) that I need to replace soon. Time to call pioneer parts and order some!

Part # CEL1222 for the radio buttons
Part # CEL1247 for the radio or climate LCD

Does anyone know if the lights for the cd function buttons are twist in or are they soldered in. Two of my buttons just went out today, fast<,>,rpt and random ,just the red, the radio and tape buttons work fine. Is there just 1 bulb that lights half of the cd function indicators
