Question Speed Indicator

I am new to this and you sound like you know what you doing. I have an indicator for the speed that does not light up and the tach is about half lite up and flashing. This a 1995 ES-300. Do you have any idea what it would take to fix it. Thanks.

Jim

sorry to bring this thread back from the dead (again) but everyone has been talking about pioneer stereos, I have a nakamichi in my sc400.

Does anyone know if the pioneer bulbs are the same as the ones in the nakamichi systems?

My gut feeling is that the bulbs should be the same for both the Pioneer and NAK systems. Only noticeable difference between the two is the audio specifications.

I have a 91 LS400 with the nak system and it uses the same bulbs. I just replaced a bunch that were burned out.

Default Cheap bulbs

Oh, I forgot to mention I found a cheap source for the CEL-1222 equivalent. It is the small 8v 60ma bulb behind most of the buttons. Compared to something ridiculous like $4 each from pioneer parts, these are only $0.20 each. You just have to transfer the silicone bulb cover to the new bulb.

For somereason, i thought that the buttons had welded bulbs and the lcd backlight had the screw ins......
so after spending 12 bucks at the dealor...and hours to open up the unit, i find out that these were the BUTTON backlights (o well, one was burnt out anyways)
How difficult is it to solder the bulb into the board for the lcd backlight? I have no electrical experience whatsoever...

What's wierd when we opened the climate control up today to replace 2 of the bulbs, the bulbs already had a blue boot over them..........

The fix went alright. The two left burnt out ones are fixed now, but in the process the one on the right doesnt work right now . Which means if I wanna fix it, we have to order another bulb, and repeat the 2 hour process again At least this one just backlights the time, which isn't as quite as important.

Default How dfficult is it to solder stereo bulbs?

Has anyone replaced the (8v 60mA CEL1222) soldered bulbs behind the stereo buttons? I took my stereo apart today to get a scope of the project and was a bit intimidated by the delicate nature of the soldering required. If someone has done this, can someone give any tips or suggestions on this fix?

Thx..

I reinstalled the climate control unit today and noticed the right most lcd has burnt out (previously, only the button back lighting were bad). So I took it back out and reopened it, everything looked o.k. So not sure what the hell went wrong in the process, kind of pissed that it's worse now than before.

I did take out all 3 screw in bulbs. Is the LCD back lighting in series with the 3 screw in bulbs or something (which doesn't make sense but i guess/hope is a possibility), anyone want to shine some light on my dilemma?

I just replaced all the bulbs on my ac controrll unit, you need 4 4mm bulbs for lcd backlit and hazard switch, 2 3mm bulbs for temperature switch and 2 5mm bulbs for other button(Off, fan speed, air flow).
