Hello all,
I am new to this forum having just picked up a 1999, ES300. I'm extremely happy with the car so far, the only thing I didn't like was the stock Panasonic stereo. The stereo worked well I just wanted one with an Ipod jack and bluetooth for my cell phone. I went out and purchased a double din Pyle PLDN74BTI, a metra 70-8112 wire harness which integrates the stock amp, and the Scosche LS2081B dash kit.
The initial install went well, everything worked except I'm getting loud noise when the stereo is on. I disconnected all four RCA jacks to the speakers and I'm still getting the noise which tells me it's getting induce in the speaker wires some how. Also, I have an independent ground right to the frame verified with my ohm meter. I've traced the noise down to the amp power wire (blue with white stripe). When I disconnect this wire the noise goes away and of course the speakers don't work. I was thinking maybe the emf is getting into the speaker wires from the amp power line via the harness so I ran an independent wire from the head unit to the amp supply and I'm still getting the noise. From a connection stand point the only thing different with the aftermarket head unit is the RCA jacks for the speakers. Am I missing something? I wasn't getting any noise with the stock stereo.
I've searched the forum looking for advice but I haven't found anything that worked yet. Does anybody have any ideas? I figured I'd continue on the post because I was curious if you think ground loop isolaters would do the trick? Also, would I have to install one on each of the four RCA's? I'm not exactly sure how they work...
I also read on a different post that you're better off bypassing the factory amp and just let the head unit power the speakers. It sounds like this option might eliminate the noise with a cheaper price tag. Again, your thoughts?
I'm also getting a loud thump out of the speakers when I turn the key off.
Any help will be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Bump... Still looking for advice. I bought ground loop isolators and am going to install them tomorrow. I hope they do the trick. Lately I've been thinking maybe it has something to do with the amp ground.
