Using a larger oil filter is pretty standard practice among enthusiasts, racers and DIYers. More filter area is generally going to be less pressure drop, more filter life, more oil capacity all good things. Its not quite altering engine components in a way that is enough to cause a problem Mr B it is a very small thing so the risk is low.

ya speaking of filters mostly on tundra, tacoma and other bigger engines members have mentioned that they have used the taller and smaller ones. one member also mentioned on his V6 engine:
" I always use the larger of the two. It came from the factory with the smaller one, but the dealer did my first oil change for free and put the larger one on. I have been using it since"
So next week when its time for change will put in D3 one

Looks better on the lighter colored cars. I was going to plastidip mine this summer but never followed through with it, and matching some chrome on the grills itself proved hard.
I actually bought some strips first to get it right but no thickness looked good, and I hate it when it sticks out like it did.

I maybe color blind, but I can't tell if the fog films are either amber-orange ish or p*ss yellow. Haven't seen the bumper done like that before.. It's different, I like it.
Restored my headlights and b pillars a few days back. Never knew the same H/L compound can bring life back to other parts of the car.

well i haven't changed it yet but i bought a D3 oil filter. its taller than D1 ( is what the car requires). Tis he same price as well so gonna give it a try. Has anyone tried a D3 on their cars.
Was reading online and other forums that :
"he D3 is same width as the D1, but is slightly taller and has 27% more filter media area, giving better flow and longer service life"
Plus there was not negative consequence on using one or the other.
so.....

So all in all I am really liking it.
One thing to point out that since its a taller filter had to add extra oil to total of 5L. I think it takes 4.75L with normal filter. But in this case took 0.25L extra.
Now we just wait for long term test.

Installed two new Michelin MXV4 Primacy tires on my ES330 today, and got an alignment.
No more vibrations or wondering at high speed. Nice and smooth and quiet.
