Default Oh no!! The lights are dimming!

I have a 1996 lexus es300
So, It's weird I put in a pretty good sound system and thought that that was the reason my lights dimmed. I took out my sub amp (rockford 1001bd) and just have the mid amp running now (rockford 400-4) and I had the volume turned way down, and when I pressed on the window button to roll down, the front headlights dimmed....I held it down again, and it still dimmed...anything else i could do to help trouble shoot this and figure out the problem. I have a new battery, optima yellow top d35....thanks in advance for your support.

Also I was curious about a wood grain wheel...which years are interchangeable with my car. I believe someone said get a 00-01 steering wheel, and use a 97-98 airbag...is that correct? and are there other options...thanks

Sounds like the alternator has taken a dump. Start there and make sure you check all the wiring for the battery and alternator.

Normal for older Toyota's, happenes to them all. My dad's '96 I4 Camry, my '96 V6 Camry, my '95 Corolla. Hell, on my Corolla, when I hit the brakes, the headligths dim for a split second. BTW, I have a 120A Alt in my Camry, stock was 80 I think.

I also have a dimming issue, but my alternator was replaced by the previous owner so I don't know anything about it.

If the lights are dimming it means they aren't getting enough power. I have heard the alternator on these cars are the absolute minimum. I know they make an oversize pulley to increase the speed of the alternator to boost output at idle. If the alternator is passing muster during testing that might be the fix.

You all are off I think. My car does the same thing yet my alternator is putting out plenty of voltage. ASG14 is right.

thank you for the input...i've been thinking about upgrading my alt to a HO version that'll do somewhere around 180a, just because I plan on upgrading my sound system and putting some pretty big amps in the trunk. thank you for the input...

so about the steering wheel....anyone know anything about that?

also where can I get a replacement key, or a key with the security remote in the key without going to the dealer? I saw one on a website, but forgot what it was....thanks guys
