Default Resale value - Honda Accord vs Lexus ES

I'm nearly ready to buy an '04 Honda Accord EX-L (top of the Accord line with V-6). My question is, with all things equal (as much as possible) which has a higher resale value ('03's through '06's), the Accords or ES series Lexus? Please consider Accords with V-6 engines. What are you basing your opinion on? Thanks!

Higher resale? I would bet Lexus because they cost more in the beginning BUT I personally don't put an Accord in Luxury category.
An ES is in the Luxury category, as a Honda Accord I would consider in an sedan ... IF you were comparing Honda Accord to a Toyota Camry that is the same category to me. At the end of the day do you want to ride to point A and B in a normal car, or do you want to drive in Luxury. It takes the most fully loaded accord to match up to the low end models of Lexus sedans.. that should say enough right there.
I had just bought a 2002 Lexus ES300 2 days ago, but my mother has owned the same one since 03 never had a problem lasted 145k miles before she did anything more then a oil change or fluid flush.
hope my opinion helps!

maybe another way to state my question would be.....if you were to sell your '03-'06, which of the two vehicles would bring you a higher % of the original price? which would depreciate the most??? i know the 2 vehicles are different and it's difficult comparing apples to oranges.

I believe the resale value of a Honda is equal to a Camry. If you want to a same resale value probably the Acura since they are the luxury division of Honda.

I would think that the Accord has a higher demand than the Lexus, but I could be wrong. The Accord is more universal when it comes to its demographic, where as the Lexus is targeted towards the older audience.

Chances are, it'll probably be easier to flip a Honda down the line than a Lexus TBH. Those in the market for a Lexus wants a fancy pants balla one, whereas those in the market for an Accord wants a reliable automobile.

However, the Lexus will definitely feel nicer. I been inside the 6th gen Accord before, it's pretty meh.

When I bought my 98 ES, my other choice was actually a slightly newer Accord. It's a good thing I passed on the Honda, because the Lexus is leaps and bounds in terms of build quality and overall performance. I can also bet that the ES will last longer than an Accord. I've noticed that Honda use cheaper materials on their vehicles. You can especially see it if you look at the underside - they corrode much faster than Lexus vehicles. In fact if you took a look at my ES, you would have no idea that it has over 180k miles on it.

Take a look at this 2003 Honda Element and notice how badly it's covered in rust. The fun starts at 2:51
