![Question](https://www.clublexus.com/forums/images/icons/icon5.gif)
Es is my first car (2yrs ago), and I am kinda short of money for this month
but I need to do Brake Fluid change and change brake pad for my car ( I dnt know how to do maintenance by myself
, but I would like to learn)
I am wondering how much would each maintenance cost?(not in Dealership)
I got front brake pads, but I need the rear set.
I want to do maintenance on time, so that my little ES can last forever

if you want to learn - find a friend who does his own maintenance and ask him to guide you through the process. Brake pads and fluid are easy and quick to do if you know what you are doing. Its a critical component so do get someone knowledgeable to help you.

It's rare to need to replace BOTH the front and rear brake pads at the same time. Usually you'll go through something like 2 sets of front brake pads before you need to look at replacing the rear ones.
As far as cost to replace the front pads and flush your brakes, it depends on a lot of factors like what kinds of pads and if your rotors need to be replaced or turned, but around here, a good independent shop will probably be somewhere around $200 total, parts and labor. The Lexus dealership will probably charge you around $500.

i got a set of Monroe ceramic brake pads (front)
I did went to oil change and they just fill up the brake fluid for free![Smilie](https://www.clublexus.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
the mechanic told me to do the brake flush next time (becuz i went there on saturday)
I am thinking if i should buy the rear pads online
I did ask them if i do need to change pads, they said i can wait for awhile, and i should change front and rear together since both of them are similar
I am looking forward to learn doing maintenance from someone
I wish i can finish school asap, and get another es300(black leather)
