Default Can a $7 intake sensor have potential for nearly a 20hp increase

While browsing Ebay for a STB, I came across this intake sensor that for $7 can provide as much as a 20 hp gain.

Seems to good to be true, anyone familiar with this?

Default Is it the timing advance brochure?

I've seen that one on eBay a lot. Usually, when you go in, it's a come-on for a brochure that provides instructions for a timing advance.
So, they're usually just selling a brochure, and I'm sure you could find instructions on a timing advance here. I believe a couple of people in here have tried it on their ES.
I don't think it gives you 20HP, I know it requires high-octane fuel (to prevent bad knocking), and I can't remember whether it decreases fuel economy or not.

It is purely BS. Check the feedback also on the seller, if there are negative ones, read them. As I've heard, it's just a RESISTOR tapped inline to the wire to "fool" the ECU that it isn't as hot/cold as the MAF reads.

that's gotta be BS. if it fools the ECU, that could have potential to be BAD for your engine. don't try it... stupid people ripping people off on ebay... i hate those...

Default Saw it last night

I did see that Ebay resistor thing last night...I was wondering the same thing that Xenon was wondering...I read the feedback one guy with a VW said it worked for him.......there were no bad reveiws however,...kinda makes U wonder if it works or not......
But on another note...All of us who know that if you can tune the V6 camry The ES300 has hope!!........I found a performance chip that is Legit that claims 10-20 Bhp increase....made by Jet performance...they have been around for a while...but this one is the real thing and its costs $374 for the job and U gotta send your ECU away to them......So there is hope..........And another thing WIll the damn V6 cam strut brace fit the Es300 97-2000?...cause it damn sure looks like it to me...any ideas on any of this guys?

As far as JET Performance goes, their ECU upgrade does NOT work as someone had tried it already on his Camry (or Solara), and ruined the OEM ECU drastically such that he had to replace it. This is not a put-down, but a buyer's beware. If I remembered correctly, it is an add-on soldered on top of another IC, not a replaced IC such as a FLASH memory.

Yes, it was the JET Performance add-on ECU that didn't work. I'll have to ask around some of the Camry/Solara guys as I don't remember who it was, but it was almost a year ago. As I recalled, he claimed there was no significant HP gain, probably on par with an intake. In addition, it has something to do with the Toyota/Lexus ECU for this platform as it seems to be somewhat un-hackable, the presence of a "foreign" IC caused the parameters to be altered.

Funny that a chip from Jet would not work but its not the first chip failure I've heard about.....Oh well guess hope is kinda lost for more HP on the Es300....but U sure can make it handle better and brake..thats 4 sure...Some one needs to start some kinda tunin for them though ...they are so aggressive lookin they are just waitin for somebodies Superchager.....I know mine is

there's a supercharger that should fit the newer gen (97-2001). the TRD s/c for the older gen (92-96)... gotta stick with what we got unless someone feels like trying a custom turbo/supercharger
