do-it yourself paint job?
the cladding and bumper in my car has way too may scatches. i got a free estimate from the toyota dealership and they said it would cost around $1000 to paint the whole bottom of my car. they also told me the little white pieces above the front and rear bumpers are costly b/c of the 3 layer paint. No way am i paying $1000 or even half that. i figured i remove the cladding and bumpers, sand it a little bit, and spray it myself using automotive paint from paintscratch.com. i figured all the equipment will cost me around $300. not bad considering i can paint the bumper anytime i get a scratch and i live in queens so you know how it is...

I remember someone painting the top part of the rear bumper a while ago.. Maybe if you search for it you'll find their post. I don't remember who it was, but it turned out well..

LOLS!!! i remember i was the one who posted that thread a long time ago! i forgot the password to "es3 double O_nyc" so i made a new one instead. i never learned how to do the diy paint job and i ended up having the shop to paint the top white pieces on the front and rear bumpers and paint and install the spoiler for $300. and then i paid another $100 to have the spoiler moved back more and have the entire trunk painted over to cover the holes just a couple of months ago, i saw how the lexus dealer paints the bumper on a RX300 and all the guy does is surround the area to be painted with newspapers and spray it with a spray gun outdoors! i think the paint on the bumper is one layer like the ES and i originally wanted to learn diy paint just for the bumper. dunno if the 3 layer paint is a diy job...
