Never removed surge tank so did not need gasket. I checked all vacuum tubing and also received a P1349 code about VVT issues. Removed and cleaned OCV and filters, code cleared and car runs. Now instead of no idle it erratically idles from 900 - 1800 rpm but I can drive it. Not sure what to check next except IAC and that's a lot of money to guess if it is the problem or not.

Thanks everyone for your advice and guidance.

How did you not remove this to do the valve cover gaskets? That unpossible!

When the car is running rough at idle, tap the IACV with a hammer. If it clears up, replace it.

Try the same with the VVT OCV.

I was very patient (or ignorant). Rear valve cover came off without removing surge tank and went back on as well. No luck with the tapping idea though. Still no codes just abnormal idling. On the road it's smooth with great acceleration.
