Default New to the World of Lexus

Hello all, just bought my 1st Lexus, a 1998 ES300, and am really enjoying it. Have had it for a little over a week now and managed to get about 600 miles on it so far.
I have gotten some great advice already from these forums, and wanted to say thank you for being such awesome and helpful folks.
Will be posting some pics once I get a chance.
Looking forward to several (hopefully all happy) years of ownership

Congratulations! How many miles are on yours and how would you describe its condition?

It has 153k, and it in mostly very nice condition. Mechanically it seems great, but I do have some of the suspension squeaking. Will get that sorted out once I decide where I'm going with the rims/tires (kinda like the look of the is300 17", but don't want to mess with the ride too much).
It has a scrape on the rear bumper, looks like from a small bump as it's got some small wrinkles, so going to replace that.
The leather is decent, has a couple rough spots, but I started cleaning/ conditioning it last weekend... well, got the drivers seat started, that's some hard work...

The IS300 sheels are great and will not mess up the ride, as long as you purchase the right tires.

I suggest you do all the repairs/maintenance before you get on with the visual mods. I know how tempting it is to make the car look nice and personalize it to your own tastes, but it will feel even better if the drive train is sorted out first. So get that suspension fixed. Do you know if the timing belt has been done?

Timing belt and water pump were done at 95k, so have a little bit before it should need it again. The guy I bought it from is a dealership mechanic and has been working with one of my relatives for awhile, so I can get it (and other needed repairs ) done at reasonable rates. I plan on dealing with the suspension, but dont want to replace the struts/springs twice, so would rather get the ones that match the end goal the 1st time... it seems to be similar to the issue with noise alot of others have been tracking here lately. Ride seems good, no bouncing like bad struts would cause, justa little squeak when cool coming from the back. That said, I do get a little bit of "pulsing" from the steering while accelerating, think I'll get that looked at this weekend.

Have some pictures to post finally...

and I apologize for the cheesy steering wheel cover.. trying to find a decent leather wrap I can put on myself until I can locate a new wheel, but that's down on the priority list right now

Let me know if you find a leather wrap for the steering wheel. My steering wheel on the RX is starting to get a little worn on the top, barely noticeable but it's still there. lol

Looks to be in a much nicer condition than mine. Take good care of it.
