Default Lights question

When you turn off the car on a 97 ES 300 does the car automatically turn off the lights? I tend to turn the park lights on when i'm driving and have forgotten and left them on several times but does not seem to have affected my battery. Last night I left the headlights in the on positon all night long but she fired right up this morning.

It's fine, these cars, like all the new ones have the 'auto shut off' feature. You can leave them in whatever position and they'll turn off in 10-15 secs, or before that if you 'lock' it twice with the FOB...

Doesn't your car have an "auto" position on the light switch? That's where you should leave it.

I know and I usually do but usually in the daytime they are not on so I turn them on. Just something i do. I guess i like the look of the car with the lights on. I know, weird! This has gotten me a few times on previous cars. I had a 06 Nissan Armada before this car and when i did this the lights did not turn off automatically. Walked out to dead truck more than a few times.

DRL's are mandatory in Canada but not necessarily elsewhere.

No, it does not have DRL's, just and auto option. They usually come on around sunset I believe.

My 98 shuts off the lights as soon as I open the door (with the key out of the ignition). I really like this feature, because I often forget to switch back to Auto when I'm in a hurry.
