I've noticed over the last few weeks that when I turn my car on, the Fuel gauge will start lower than it actually is.
For example, on half a tank, after 10 minutes of driving it will rise to the next line above but then it seems that the next time i start the car, it had lost a lot more that it should have.

As far as I know, the sending unit is available by itself. Part no 8332033030 about $120
At least for my 2001 es300, for yours it should be the same.
You can test your sending unit as follows
With an OHM meter between terminals 2 and 3 of the sending unit the readings should be as follows
Full = 3 ohm
Half = 31 ohm
Empty = 110 ohms
Once removed, you may also be be able to clean it or adjust it.
