Default Would you be worried about this?

I did my second drain and fill of the transmission the other day. Measured 2qt and 30oz in the drain pan. Added 2 qt and 30 oz of fresh new fluid. Checked the dip stick and the fluid level was at the low Cold mark (with a cold engine at idle). Drove around, checked the fluid again, and the level was at the low Hot mark. This lead me to believe that I should add some fluid. Added 2-3 ounces (figured I should round it off to 3 quarts), checked the level and it's over the full mark!

Here is a shot of it when it's cold.

It's over by the same amount when it's hot (after driving around). If you can't tell in the picture, it's over by the same amount that the distance is from Low to Full (about 1cm).

I will be doing my 3rd and final drain and fill next week along with a filter/gasket change. Should I fix this, or leave it as is till next week? I've heard auto trannies are very sensitive towards fluid levels.

Hard to tell from those stupid dipsticks, why don't they knurl the ends like they used to? It made the reading 100x more accurate. Anyway, if you can loosen the drain plug and let some leak out, why take a chance? It will probably be perfectly fine but if you're like me and paranoid, I like to have the level exact, which takes a few tries/checks to get the level perfect.

Use a suction machine to drain the fluid via the dipstick tube.

Did you have the engine running when looking at the dipstick? You also need to cycle the transmission through all of the gears.

When ever checking transmission fluis, i recommend driving it on the highway for 20 minutes then come back to a level ground and check it. Its pretty accurate that way. From my experience

This. Took me a couple attempts to get it 'close' to right.

Followed manual, bought a little extra, and i was still LOW! Then the next day i had to get more and top it up. Thanks dipstick for being the most inaccurate thing on this car.

Wait, are you checking the fluid when the engine is off?
