Hi,
I want to improve my ES's handling... and want to add a sway bar...
But i'm not sure which one to get... Will different brand of sway bars make a difference? Does thicker sway bars mean better handling? Is there such thing as a sway bar that is too stiff for the ES and instead hurt the handling? Also is there a rear sway bar for the ES too?
Thanks~

Yes, the stiffer the bar, the better handling you will get. I'm not sure its possible to get too thick of a sway bar, because I doubt they make any for the ES 300 that would be too strong considering the ES 300 is not meant to be a sports car. If you want to make sure not to mess up the handling, I would suggest replacing your springs and shocks also. Finally, I don't beleive there is a front sway bar, so the only one you can get is a rear sway bar. In fact, my rear sway bar isn't for an ES 300. I got it from australia and its actually for a camry, but still fits

TRD sells a 2-position adjustable RSB with street and track setting. The street is an effective 19mm and track is 21mm thickness. Whiteline sells both front sway and rear sway bars. Their RSB is somewhere in the middle of TRD's street and track settings. There are some mixed feelings for the front sway bar, and the general opinion is if you aren't into running a track, then it won't help much. In addition, there is some vibration that appears as well, and the OEM bushing bracket bolts may not get threaded completely since the front sway bar is much thicker than the OEM. I have the TRD on my '98 Camry and it's very sweet at street setting; I have yet to try track setting.
Comparison b/t OEM & TRD:

Two settings on the TRD, towards the end is street, towards the center is track:
