Default car wax

hey, so before i got black lexus, i used to own white maxima for which i was using normal clear wax, however now my lexus is black, several of my friends suggested me to use special wax for black colored cars instead of clear one, sayin it will save paint better and make it more shiny, any thoughts on it?

There is no special wax just for black cars, any wax will do just fine.

Not special, but made for black only. It's a multi step kit, but the results are worth it.

My buddy uses this on his black BMW, and it applies nice. If i had a black car, i'd be using this.

I would recommend Meguiar's. Not just cause it has black car on the cover but their products are the best.

Meguiar's isn't the best, but it's still good value. If you're really interested in detailing, you can check out autogeek.net

p.s.: I hope I'm not violating any forum rules.

Collinite. Not only does it compete with the super expensive grade waxes, it lasts a long time (i.e. many, many washes) and is inexpensive. It's a wax though, not a sealer, or an all-in-one, or finish restorer. Your paint should look good to use this, and if it does the results are excellent.

Lots of reviews/comparisons out there, typical examples:

http://www.detailingworld.co.uk/foru...ad.php?t=79801

Any of the Collinites will outlast NuFinish/Mequires NXT/etc. by a long shot. Try it once guys - bottle/can may not have the bling factor but this stuff is great.

I have to say I have used several waxes on many color cars including black, and NuFinish is the best for me. Easy to apply, lasts a LONG time and reasonably priced.

Prep is ~90% of the look. I can make a great finish come out of a car I've prepped by using no wax at all. However, I do like my Dodo Juice Supernatural 2.0 when I want something special on my car

I'm glad this was not moved to Detailing.... I never even knew about "black" wax kits....

Don't get washed into marketing about "black waxes" clear coat safe, etc, etc.

I recommend Meguiar's Ultimate Wax.

If you really want to learn about the process of Paint Correction and Auto Detailing, head over to AutoGeek or Meguiars Online. The CL Detailing section here is rather lame.

By the way Turtle Wax isn't very good lol.

FFS, this guy wasn't asking advice on how to remove swirls.

Just a simple wax. Black Box works great, I've used it and seen the results. For a simple [aka, no machine req'd] wax, you can't go wrong on a black car that will make it 'pop'.
