Gas isn't bad enough here to justify it. On top of each state [in my case, province] has different laws.
For example, in Ontario only fleet vehicles can use this technology, many still do not due to lack of stations.
I've never heard of CNG. LPG i'm very familiar with since my family in Europe runs their cars on the stuff. However the LPG conversions [and i fear this one] ruins the motor. The cars are made to run on gas, the injectors get gummed up due to the combustion and 'lack of use' since the LPG kit requires you to drill in your own 'injector' for the gas into the intake manifold.
But i'd never do in North America unless gas spikes to 2$/Liter.

Natural gas really is a game changer for many of our energy problems, as the price of gas reaches $5, you're going to see more manufacturers have this option on cars.
The cost savings are huge, Natural Gas comes almost exclusively from the US and Canada, and burns about 90% cleaner than gasoline.
Right now it's used more in fleets, but as the price of gas increases, they're going to be more common.

The only downside is lack of availability. In home stations are going to become very popular. A CNG compressor connected to your in home CNG system. No more having to find a station at an inconvenient time.
As soon as the biggest of the Big Oil get on board you will see rapid movement in CNG. But right now there is still too much profit in oil to make that move. It's all about the money.
