92' ES300 help? perhaps a simple answer
Hello everyone,
I have another question about the 92' es300. It may seem stupid to some but any help would be appreciated. Its another question about the anti theft deterrent system on the car. I've read some forums about some kind of beep or chirp to indicate the doors have been locked. Now my car doesn't beep or chirp when the doors lock when I press the button on the side of the key. Now I don't know if it supposed to beep to let you know that the doors are locked. The security light in the inside of the car flashes to indicate that the doors are locked. I quite honestly was hoping that the exterior lights would flash and the car would make a beeping sound to indicate the doors have been locked. I'm not trying to complain, its hard to tell whether the doors have been locked sometimes. One forum I had looked at had mentioned something that you had to do this certain activation process to get the chirp. Though I think this was only for mid to late 90's es300 models. To me it would make sense to have a security system that lets you know when your vehicle is locked through an alarm of some sort. I don't want to have to drive a far distance to the Lexus dealer and perhaps have them charge me to look at the vehicle. Like I said its not an emergency but I was hoping there was something I could do to make it beep or chirp so i don't have to worry about it being locked. Also has anyone put an after market alarm system in their es300?
Thanks for reading this

If I'm not mistaken, there should be a little volume control **** on the lower dash, just above where your right knee would be when you sit. If you look carefully you'll ind it.
At least thats where it is on my 2001 es300.

I don't know when the audible lock beep was added to the ES but 1993 was the first model year it was added to the LS. My advice is to watch the inside lock button/levers on the door when you lock your car - that's what I did with the 90 LS400 I owned for many years.
