(Pics) How to remove outside mirror glass
Ok... I posted earlier about my loose fold away mirror.. I think I have discovered the problem. There is a clip inside the passenger mirror that is holding down a washer and a spring, that I assume gives the necessary tension to hold the mirror in place and allow it to be folded in or out. The drivers side mirror is missing this clip, and the spring and washer are all loose. I have included pics to show what I am talking about. My question is, How do I remove the mirror glass without breaking it to get inside the housing to put a new clip on? Thank in advance
The 1st pic is of the passenger side mirror with the clip, washer and spring
The 2nd pic is of the drivers side with the clip missing, and the spring, well, sprung. The washer is up behind the mirror hanging on the electrical wires (which is why you cannot see it)

I've only had to deal with one outside mirror in my lifetime and it was on a 2008 RX350. The glass was attached by a set of plastic clips. It fell out on its own, without breaking, so my job was to just pop it back into place. So what I would recommend is positioning the glass all the way into one corner, so that the opposite side sticks out enough for you to grab it. Then just carefully yank it out.
I should note that I take no responsibility for any possible damage that you might cause to your car. My suggested technique is just a guess.

On ours, when we had to replace the glass recently, you adjust the mirror so it points up as much as possible. Pry gently under the lower edge about 1/4 of the way from each end and then just rotate it up further. two hooks at the top and two clips at the bottom. Unplug the wires for the heated glass and set aside somewhere safe. Install by inserting the top first and then rotate down and press firmly on the bottom edge till it clicks into place.

For some reason the Lexus Service manual I have doesn't show mirror glass removal. From what I can see this is pretty universal, here is a clip from the manual for my old WRX that shows how to remove, which might help here.
