Default Sunroof exploded on freeway (HELP!!)

I was driving on the freeway earlier today with the sunroof cover open, but the sunroof closed. All of a sudden the sunroof broke open and glass flew all over I think something flew off a truck in front of me. Where should I go to have this replaced? Try to get a window from a junkyard and take it to a shop? How much is this going to run me? This sucks I can't stop playing this in my head over and over. I didn't hear or see anything. Is it possible that there was a defect or something like that with the sunroof? The car is 10 yrs old and I really doubt Lexus will fix it for me. I can't believe this ****.

Wow, now im feeling nervous to drive with my sunroof up!

It does very much look like something hit it, and im guessing wreckers would be your best bet. Unless you can get insurance of some sort.

Hope it works out!

I found an 02 ES sunroof window at a junkyard for $200. Will any 02 Toyota fit? I wonder if I can find it cheaper it I look for Toyotas instead of Lexus.

A shop said they can do repair it for $350, but I still need to shop around before I do this. Kind of makes me nervous about getting another sunroof in the future...weird.

I would get the EXACT piece you need, anything else will likely lead to a ruined interior.

I had something like this happen with an early Acura Legend.. glass completely popped out of the sunroof going down the Interstate, all that was left behind was the mechanical stuff (rails and such, frame went with the glass). I found sunroof out of a Honda that was the same size, or really, really close, fit pretty nice, but the mounting points didn't match mine. I ended up having to take it out and put it in the trunk anytime I drove it. It also had a little bit of a leak since the hardware couldn't pull it down to seal it properly.

That sucks... one would think that any glass repair or body shop would be able to do the work.
