Default A little bit of blue smoke at start up. Any ideas?

105k miles. Started very gradually over the last 3 months. (bought it 5 months ago) Doesn't smoke at all when its warm, only the very first second or two after you start it every morning. The car was driven in the LA area all its life but I live in a desert area so extreme heat is new to it. (110+)

Do you recommend any oil additives?

Thanks in advance.

What year? It could be sludge, or worn valve seal guides.

Typically, its worn/hardened valve guide seals. No additives will magically fix this. A thicker oil might slow the leak down a bit. Start saving those pennies for the repair.

Do you have service records for it? At what interval were the oil changes done?

Check and replace the PCV valve.

Best way to check for sludge, is to pull the front valve cover. A fairly easy job.

Change oil and replace PVC valve.

Try some techron also.
