That is with the timing advanced, correct? Are you still doing that without any problems? How many degrees did you finish at?

Yes thats with the timing advanced it up to 16 degrees it really woke the car up if i'm in first gear and i punch it at about 5 grand the tires start breaking loose it definatly feels like more power. I used to own a 1990 mustang with all kinds of mods and 100 shot of nitrous so the car was fast buy this car doesn't bore me at all i'm supprised with the power but its also a 5 speed so you get more power to the wheels. One day with the g-tech i had a really bad run missed shift and it still ran a 7.5 but my best to date was a 7.01.

Is that with 93 octane fuel that you got up to 16 degrees? I might give this a shot at some point, even if it just gets back the little power I lose when the 18's are on I'll be happy for a free mod.

I usually only run sunoco 94 but if its cold you should be able to get away with 91 thru 93. I used 89 with no problems thats why i might advance it more but it runs great the way it is. You have to listen to the motor while under stress if you hear detonation let off and go down 2 degrees of timing and you should be set. Remember stock is 10 degrees.

The 97-2001 ES300s don't have ECT as the tranny has it built in (computer regulated) so that instead of having to push the button, you just need to put your foot down like you mean it.

97-2001 ES300s are also far faster than 94-96s. If I remember correctly, 97-2001s could land 0-60 in the high 7s range. I seriously doubt that the first gens (94-96) could do the same.

'97-'01 models were a bit quicker than the 1st gen ES3, but the only sub-8 second times I've seen for them were from early pre-production models. The majority of the times for them were around 8-8.5 seconds. The '92-'96 times usually were in the 8 second range as well, sometimes even over 9 seconds. The quickest time for a gen 1 ES3 was 8.2 seconds, acheived twice by Car and Driver for both a '92 model as well as a '94.

Anyway, bottom line is that no ES could be considered a fast car, and regardless of what model, 0-60 in any ES seems to be in the 8 second range, with the 1/4 mile in the 16 second range.

Well i dont know if you guys drove a 5 speed but i've shooked alot of people when you first start to race they think your joking but when you beat somebody or at least hang with them there in shock. Thats the one thing i love about my car nobody suspects it to be a stick. Dont forget i can wind all the way to 6900 rpms or what ever rpm i want and shift a gear you cant do that with an auto it throws the computer out of wack. I even raced a cadilac sts a new one i hung right with him on the high way and they have 300hp i know their heavy but i was still impressed. I dont care what anybody says a stick shift car is always better for performance.
