Simply shutting it won't do it, you need to close it firmly. I'm not saying you should slam it, but shutting it won't cut it. Assuming it isn't indicative of a bigger problem, it should work. See here -> https://www.clublexus.com/forums/es3...w-problem.html

Congratulations, I got a 03 for 11K plus a 3K trade on a beatup Protege. The ES had 100K miles with absolutely no exterior or interior flaws that anyone could spot from more than 5 feet away. It runs like a charm. Every thing works on it like it was new was able to get the service record and it had all the schedule maintence done. That includes the transmission reflash and the timing belt change. As an added plus it had new Michelin tires mounted.

Welcome to the Club! Amazing ride. You found a gem in mint condition, you stole it!

Let me know if you have any questions regarding modifications, maintenance, etc., I chuckled that you got a discount for the rear window because, just sit in the car, hold down the window switch, and slam the door. (While the car's on). Will fix the problem, have had to do it several times.

I am already picturing in my head what I would do with a silver one, can't wait to see what you do!

Hey all.
I bought a 2002 ES300 for my daughter with 117k miles on it. It needed new tires and 4 wheel alignment. I have done all that and it rides very smooth.

For maintenance, I replced engine oil, steering fluid. I was planning on replacing transmission fluid and radiator flush. What other maintenance would you do if you just bought this car?

Thanks

Do you know if the timing belt has been done? Spark plugs would be another area of concern. 100k miles is a major milestone.

Timing belt was changed by previous owner.
I have changed cabin air filter, engine air filter, steering fluid.
I need to change brake fluid. Is it as simple as draining the reservior and filling it up?
I think the spark plugs have been changed but am checking records.

I would and am plannning to change transmission fluid.

I am looking for a service manual for 2002 ES300, but cannot find it. I browsed through the forum but have not seen a link. Can anyone help?

It depends on how thorough you are. If you just want to renew the majority of the fluid, a simple refill of the reservoir should do. Although if you want to make your brake pedal feel like new, you will need another person to bleed the system. It's a matter of removing the wheels and going around all four corners, opening the bleed screws and having your helper step on the pedal. This second method gets rid of all old fluid and removes any moisture or air bubbles from the system.

p.s.: You should create your own thread, because this is going really off-topic.

I purchased and use the Haynes manual for the same year Camry/Avalon/ solera because its the same for our es300's if you buy the right one... other wise get the "real" one from the dealer for 50-75$

I just had the GROM Unit installed in my ES300, and it works! There website only says it works for 2004 and up, but I figured I would give it a shot. Plus, the website I bought it from was located in NJ and they offered to install it for free.

They have a youtube channel and they have over 100 videos on audio installations relating to iPod/Bluetooth. I'll upload the link to the video they made on my ES300 GROM UNIT Installation, once they upload the video that is.
