i've had a check engine on for a couple weeks now and pulled these codes the other day, p0402 and p1411 and it read it has something to do with the egr....fast forward to today my girl borrowed my car and it drove fine to work but it was parked 8 -9 hours and didn't want to start, when i got there i tried and it started and then died but if i started and reved the car it would still be on but the second i stopped doing so it died... i thought it could be the fuel pump but not so sure now but didn't think the egr issue would cause this?

any insight before i tow it in the morning?

P0402 - EGR is getting Excessive Flow, hence your car died. Especially at idle.

P1411 - EGR circuit malfunction

Troubleshoot: probable causes, EGR VSV stuck open or shorted to ground; or defective EGR.

Thanks man, had the car towed and cleaned out the idle control unit but still have a bad egr valve...might be sensor but not sure.

I have a 97 es300 as well and I get days when she(I am looking for a good stripper name) acts up the same way. If I push the gas and bring up the idle for a few minuets it will clear up. Since I do a lot of city driving...I run a bottle LUCAS injector cleaner through with a top off of gas....then I am good to go for a while......my 2 cents...
