I am trying to replace the downstream o2 sensor after the catalytic converter on my '01. I tried searching for the answer on here but was unable to find it. I am unable to disconnect the wires because the sensor goes up into the car, and as far as I can tell, this area cannot be removed since it is glued on. How do I do this? Would I be better off splicing the old wires to the new sensor and just replacing it that way?
Thanks

I was able to get the job done.
I first disconnected the battery, then removed the driver seat, but I did not disconnect it from the power supply. Then, I removed the center console. From there, I was able to see where the plug was underneath the carpet, and was able to access it. I did not have to remove any carpeting. It was tough getting my hands down there and connecting/disconnecting, but I was successful. One of the benefits to removing the driver seat was being able to vacuum all the Chick Fil A fries that had accumulated in tight spots down there.
