Default Steering Pump Air valve

After replacing dang near every steering component due to leaks I've been told the "Air Control Valve" on the pump is leaking-anybody ever replaced that? was wondering how hard it is to get to-it's about a 250.00 part at the dealer so I might try to find a used one. thanks to all

Correct me if I'm wrong, but why would there be an Air Control Valve in a system that cannot have any air in it? It sounds like you either mixed up what you were told or you're being taken for a ride. There is no such valve in a power steering system.

Ask the parts guy at that dealership how many of those things he has sold. If he never sold any that he can remember that should tell you something.

If possible also speak to a Lexus dealer mechanic, and ask him if he ever changed one of those things.

They could be talking about the idle up control, which has 2 vacuum lines attached to it. I could have sworn someone here posted a part number for just the idle up switch. Looking at the parts diagram I only see what Lexus calls the pressure hose which includes the idle up.

If it was me I would seek out a used one if possible. edit - here is the thread, does not appear you can buy that part separately from the dealer.

I can't tell you what's leaking on your car, but I think I know why the dealer found a part for you.

When you told them about the valve, they gave you the price for the Idle Air Control Valve - it's unrelated to Power Steering, but it is a common problem with these cars. The valve is rarely replaced, unless cleaning does not help. It's about $250, so that does sound right.

It's possible.
