it might be the alternator then, see if you can have someone check for you, I know AAA does it.

Put a multimeter on the battery. With the car idling you should measure at least 13.5 volts, off idle around 14.1 volts. If you are measuring less then that it's likely the alternator is not working.

Boost start your engine. Then remove the jumper cable. Let the engine idle. If the alternator is dead, the engine will stall in a few minutes. If it doesn't stall, either your new battery is not holding charge or something is draining your battery.

The battery shouldn't have depleted in a short trip around the block if the alternator was dead. If it is a new battery, it should be pretty strong. My guess would be something is draining the battery while it is parked, and if it is only a couple of hours, then it must be a pretty high load on the battery. I would hook up a multimeter, or do the test that another guy mentioned with the jumper cables. If you indeed have a good alternator, you should either draw test it, or take it to a dealer to have them try to figure it out. Some draws are easy to find, and others take awhile. The good news is, if it is a heavy draw, it shouldn't be too hard to find.
