I idle at 500. I want it to be about in the 700s. I feel it is too low for my alternator to reach turn on speed. Other cleaning the IACV, what else can I do to get it to where it should be. Ideally I want it to be 800 - but I somehow need to program the computer on the car to set idle speed to this. Is the action of reving car to 1000 for 10 min any good to reset the idle speed, or is that for a newer ES? any ideas? thanks.

You basically have 2 options. Clean the tb and intake with tb cleaner and sea foam through the brake booster vacuum line or pcv valve vacuum line. You can also adjust the idle speed by adjusting the screw on the throttle cable on the tb. I recommend doing it in the order stated.

If you have a Chiltons manual, it talks about adjusting the throttle and adjustment screw in the fuel and exhaust system section under the throttle body. If I understand it right, if these adjustments arnt right it can cause the idle speed to be off.
