Default wheee, brake job !!!

Looks like my weekend isn't going to be as fun as I hoped.... going to be re-doing my front brakes tomorrow after a sudden problem earlier today. Seems my front passenger-side caliper is seized partially open. Won't close or open any further than it is, and is lightly riding the outside of the rotor, which is now warped.
Oh, and I have to do a 2 hour drive down the east coast of Fl on Monday for work, can't take the wife's car due to daughter's Ortho appt... when it rains

You can always buy a rebuilt brake caliper from the store. When you get the "old" caliper off, you can take it to the store for core return fee.

That's what I did, was going to order from Rockauto, but turns out after shipping I would have only saved about $20, would have had to wait til at least Wednesday for the parts, and probably would have taken another week minimum to get the core credit. Ended up with calipers for both sides, rotors fr both sides, and ceramic pads for $220, after I get the core back. Hoping it won't take me too long in the heat tomorrow.. haven't done brakes in about 15 years.

wish me luck

Make sure you bleed your brakes afterwards.

I also like the idea of placing a plastic sandwich baggy, placed flat over the opening of the brake fluid reservoir, then screw the lid back on. It creates a vacuum and keeps any of the fluid from escaping, thus less bleeding and zero mess. Some swear that no bleeding is necessary after this. I think it's a good time to bleed anyway.

just jimmy the brake pedal to the floor before you take line off caliper: no leak then. I use a piece of wood bet seat and pedal.

Went better than I expected, usually end up with stripped bolts or something, but no drama this time. Pedal feels a little softer than before, but considering the brakes weren't right to start with, not sure that's bad. Any idea whether ceramic pads have a break in period?

I usually drive around the block a few times to bed in the pads to the rotors after I do my brakes. It has become a habit even if I do a full brake job.

Thanks for the response. It has been seeming to get a bit better as I drive it... in fact, I think it feels about where it was before the change (other than the part about it being broken on one side). If it gets even just a little tighter I will be a very happy camper
