Default Vacuum solenoids???

How important are the 2 vacuum solenoids on the front part of the engine? i know one goes to the fuel pressure regulator., whats the other one for? Can they be bypassed? Both of mine are broken so maybe this is why my car is running like crap. Any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks.

Should not be bypassed. They really aren't that expensive, replace them if they are broken.

I can check it if it's a 2000-2001 but that's it. Otherwise I can guess, in all likelihood the evaporative emissions system. If it's prior to 1998 then one of them could possibly be part of the egr system as well.
