Hey thanks for this tip. I went ahead and signed up. Looks like a lot of service info is available, which is cool.

BTW, I whined to the dealer about the missing engine cover. They said if they have one, I could swing by and get it. I'll let you guys know what they say.

I just saw one on Ebay a few days ago. Just really have to do your research with this car to find what you want.

It won't be hard to find a totaled vehicle's cover, but can also buy new.

Good news -- the dealer is gonna hook me up with an engine cover at no charge.

Welcome! Clean ES300!
Glad you ditched the Galants. Those are absolutely garbage. The ES is a serious upgrade.

You know, I didn't HATE the Galant, per se -- it actually had a few things about it that I liked. It was an '05 SE, so it had leather, premium sound, alloy wheels, and some other goodies. Very large, comfortable car (I'm 6'4" so that's important, lol). But what I hated about it was the engine. 4-banger; 4-speed ... it went over 3,000 RPM at 70 MPH. Even with the windows shut we had to raise our voices to hear each other over the engine. Horrible for long road trips. I didn't have any mechanical problems with it, though.

After that I had an '03 TL. It was a salvage title that I picked up for cheap at a local auction. Not a bad car, but lots of body issues and needed some major TLC. Not the car's fault. I didn't feel like sinking money into it, so I sold it on craigslist.

So that brings me to my new ES. It's pretty awesome. The first day my wife and I drove it together, I put it in reverse to back out of the driveway, and she says, "It's ON???" It's THAT quiet. Loving it so far! Thanks for the warm welcome.
