Hello,
I'm currently debating as to whether or not to spend the money on a car alarm for my 1998 es 300. I definitely want an alarm (my last car was stolen), however, getting quotes I keep hearing about bypassing the stock alarm. I know that this car has a chip in the key so I'm fairly secure that bypassing that would require a professional thief. I'm more worried about the contents in my car and the less than professional thief. The type that will break a window to get at something etc.
Does the stock alarm have shock sensing? Will it sound off if the doors are opened without a key? If a window is broken?
I'm a student and if the stock alarm will perform these features then I don't want to go and spend money that I could otherwise put to good use.
Any help is appreciated...I just can't seem to find any information online...
Thanks in advance!

If someone breaks a window and manually unlocks the door the alarm will go off. You cannot use the power door locks from the inside if the car has been locked with the fob or with the power locks before closing the door. You can test this by having someone sit inside the car while you lock it as if you're leaving it, then have them try to open the door from inside.
